Job summary

Pivotal is seeking a Scrum Master to support embedded software and firmware development for our next-generation aircraft. You will partner with firmware, software, systems, hardware, DevOps, and verification teams to set priorities, maintain cadence, remove blockers, and drive work from definition through integration.

This hands-on role operates in a fast-paced aerospace environment. You will own the team rhythm, translate milestones into executable plans, monitor progress with Jira and GitLab,

Qualifications

  • 5+ years supporting software/firmware teams in aerospace or similar complex hardware/software environment.
  • 3+ years in Scrum Master/PM roles focusing on execution.
  • Strong working knowledge of Jira and GitLab, including backlogs, boards, releases, and defects.
  • Experience with integrated schedules using Smartsheet and/or Microsoft Project.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Agile/Scrum execution for embedded software, firmware, DevOps, and verification teams, including sprint planning, daily standups, backlog refinement, reviews, retrospectives, and release planning.
  • Partner with engineering leads and product owners to maintain a prioritized backlog with defined scope, acceptance criteria, dependencies, and completion criteria.
  • Drive work to closure by identifying blockers, assigning owners, and ensuring due dates are met.
  • Maintain development plans and execution status across Jira, GitLab, Smartsheet, and Microsoft Project.
  • Coordinate development activities spanning embedded firmware, low-level software, hardware interfaces, and test/verification.
  • Track dependencies between software, hardware, systems engineering, and flight-test teams.
  • Support release planning, build schedules, regression testing, and production software releases.
  • Define and maintain Definition of Ready and Definition of Done criteria for the team.
  • Use Jira/GitLab data to monitor sprint health, backlog maturity, and release readiness.
  • Identify risks early and communicate them to stakeholders and management.
  • Facilitate cross-functional discussions when priorities conflict.
  • Continuously improve team processes while avoiding excessive ceremony.
  • Translate program milestones into executable software development plans with status against plans.
