Job summary

Vitesse Systems is seeking an Embedded Firmware Engineer to design and troubleshoot firmware for robotic systems and electromechanical hardware across diverse industries, including aerospace applications.

The role involves hands-on integration with motors, sensors, and actuators, translating hardware needs into software requirements, and collaborating with electrical engineers to bring boards up and verify performance.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related robotics discipline.
• 2+ years of firmware/embedded software experience for Level I.
• 5+ years for Level II.
• 8+ years for Level III.
• Experience testing, validating and managing firmware deployments.
• Strong C++ and Python coding
• Knowledge of SPI, EtherCAT, Ethernet, UART, CAN, I2C, RS-232 protocols
• Experience with RTOS and ROS hardware integration

Responsibilities

• Write firmware, drivers, and embedded software for devices.
• Bring-up and integration of electromechanical systems.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers on board bring-up and testing.
• Translate hardware requirements into firmware specs.
• Ensure deadlines and quality through coding standards and reviews.
• Learn and teach new techniques, continuously improve processes.
• Travel to support hardware assembly and testing.
• Other duties as assigned.
