Furientis seeks an embedded firmware engineer to join the Avionics Team in Los Angeles. You will develop firmware, drivers, and test tools for vehicle avionics and edge-compute platforms, bringing up hardware with electrical and systems engineers.
You will diagnose issues at the bench and ensure full system reliability under real operating conditions. The role requires 5+ years in embedded firmware, strong C/C++ or Rust skills, Python for automation, and experience with embedded Linux and GPU
America is critically deficient in production of defensive munitions- we currently produce shipborne interceptors in the few hundreds per year while our adversaries are producing offensive threats in the tens of thousands per year. Furientis was started to help solve this problem- introducing a new class of cost-effective, high production rate, interceptor missiles. We're seeking motivated individuals who internalize this problem and are eager to apply their past experience in similar industries (aerospace, defense, automotive/racing, robotics) and out of the box thinking to solve this problem for the US and its allies.
The Avionics Team owns the electronics on the vehicle: flight computer, compute boards, power conversion, sensor interfaces, wiring, and the embedded firmware that ties them together. The same engineers design the boards, write the firmware, and bring them up at the bench. No handoff layer between hardware and software.
Avionics sits on the critical path for every flight test, so the team's velocity sets the program's pace.
We’re looking for an embedded firmware engineer who enjoys working close to hardware and delivering reliable, low-latency systems in demanding environments. You’ll develop firmware, drivers, and test tools for vehicle avionics and edge-compute platforms, then bring them up alongside electrical and systems engineers. You’ll help connect sensors and actuators to onboard compute, diagnose issues at the bench, and make the full system dependable under real operating constraints.
Location: On-site at our Los Angeles, CA HQ; remote work is not available. Monthly weekend travel for test events and supplier engagements. Clearance: A clearance is not required for this position. Must be a U.S. Person.
