OVERVIEW
The Embedded Software Engineer will lead the design, development, and implementation of embedded software solutions for various sensing projects, including magnetic, acoustic, capacitive, LIDAR, guided wave, and radar-based liquid level sensing. The role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure software and firmware meet performance, reliability, and cost standards. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in firmware design, architecture, development, and testing for analog and digital hardware, with a passion for advancing technology.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and implement embedded software for sensor development projects.
- Develop firmware for sensor products.
- Debug and test firmware to meet product and customer standards.
- Optimize system and hardware resources for efficiency and stability.
- Improve firmware architecture to reduce power consumption and memory use.
- Support software QA and enhance I/O performance.
- Manage software testing and releases via GitHub.
- Evaluate third-party and open-source software for integration.
- Implement encryption for firmware updates to enhance security.
- Create reusable code modules for multiple product lines.
- Develop testing protocols and conduct firmware validation.
- Collaborate with hardware engineers during product development.
- Troubleshoot and resolve firmware issues during all development phases.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
- Communicate with customers and suppliers as needed.
- Stay updated on industry trends and incorporate relevant technologies.
- Prepare technical documentation including specifications and test plans.
- Develop and manage project schedules.
- Perform additional duties as required.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Mathematics; Master’s preferred.
- 10-15 years’ firmware development experience.
- Proven experience in embedded software for sensor systems.
- Expertise with microcontrollers and FPGA systems.
- Experience with Microchip, STMicro, or TI microprocessors.
- Proficiency in C/C++ and assembly language.
- Knowledge of communication protocols: RS232, RS485, I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, LIN.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Experience with Git and standards like MISRA.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and data encryption techniques.
- Hands-on hardware testing skills.
- Technical leadership capabilities.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- Over 10 years in sensor design and development.
- Proficiency in analog/digital sensor design, high-frequency design.
- Experience with MATLAB, LABVIEW, wireless protocols (BLE, IoT), machine learning, and data analytics.
- Background in electrical hardware design and high-volume manufacturing.
- Experience with ultrasonic, LiDAR, or radar ranging technologies.
- Scripting skills like Python for automation.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
