Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking an Embedded Engineer II to join our Software Organization. You will develop and test firmware in C for our product line, collaborating with Hardware, Signal Processing, Manufacturing and Product teams to deliver on roadmaps.

You will work with diverse engineers to build stable, power-efficient firmware across devices, enabling 24/7 connectivity with our mobile apps and driving health/fitness data analysis forward.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 2+ years of embedded software development experience.
• Proficient with C/C++ programming.
• Familiarity with I2C, SPI, and USART.
• Familiarity with operating systems and RTOS.
• Ability to use electronic test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, logic analyzers).

Responsibilities

• Develop and test firmware in C for the company’s product line, leveraging software and hardware tools.
• Contribute to firmware architecture design and feature development.
• Debug issues across software and hardware domains.
• Write and maintain clear technical documentation.
• Participate in code reviews and ensure coding standards.
• Support test automation by designing, implementing, and debugging firmware self-tests.
• Support electrical development by contributing to component selection and driver bring-up.
• Leverage AI as a development tool and share learnings with teammates.

You will work with Hardware, Signal Processing, Manufacturing and Product teams to develop and deliver against Hardware and Software roadmaps. The Embedded team’s mission is to build and deploy stable, accurate, and power efficient firmware platforms for all our in house developed devices via a seamless 24/7 connection and interaction between our mobile apps.

Responsibilities:

Develop and test firmware in C for the company’s product line, leveraging software tools, hardware tools, and instrumentation to aid in the development and debug process.

• Ability to use electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, and logic analyzers to aid in debug.
• Proficient with device driver development
• Proficient in C/C++ programming
• Fluency in electrical engineering fundamentals and knowledge of electrical design basics
• Familiarity with operating systems (OS) and real-time operating systems (RTOS).
• Familiarity with system communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, and USART.
• Familiarity with version control using git
• Familiarity with unit and functional testing
