Job summary

Alarm.com is seeking an embedded software engineer to craft firmware for video cameras at our Tysons, Virginia headquarters. You’ll grow as a strong C++/Linux generalist, learning from senior engineers while shipping code that runs on real hardware used by millions of homes and businesses.

You’ll work on video pipelines, on‑device analytics, and connectivity, with cross‑functional collaboration across hardware, cloud, and product teams in an agile environment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional embedded software development on Linux platforms.
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with cross‑compilation and build frameworks such as Yocto, buildroot, OpenWRT, or Android.
• Strong C++ proficiency for embedded systems with solid design principles.
• Proficient in Linux systems programming and debugging on target hardware.

Responsibilities

• Implement, test, and debug camera firmware on real hardware from design to release.
• Develop platform frameworks and embedded Linux applications in C/C++.
• Collaborate with hardware and cloud teams to ensure integrated features.
• Perform system‑level debugging, performance profiling, and validation.
• Write internal tools to automate frequent processes.
