Job summary

The Town of East Longmeadow is seeking a Lifeguard (Ellis & Associates Certified) to ensure the safety and well‑being of patrons at our aquatic facilities. You will monitor pool activity, enforce rules, prevent incidents, and respond promptly to emergencies in line with E&A standards and town policies.

Ideal candidates are 15 or older, with lifeguard or customer service experience, strong swimming, good communication and teamwork. Certification and CORI/SORI checks are required before employment.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 15 years of age.
• Prior lifeguarding or customer service experience preferred.
• Knowledge of: General aquatic safety and East Longmeadow Recreation department policies.
• Ability to: Remain alert and attentive for extended periods, respond calmly to emergency situations, and work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
• Skill: Strong swimming skills and physical fitness, effective communication and team work skills.
• Required Licensing/Certification: Current Ellis & Associates Lifeguard License, or the ability to obtain prior to employment is required. Successful SORI and CORI is required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety, supervision, and well‑being of patrons at assigned aquatic facilities.
• Enforce facility rules and respond promptly and effectively to aquatic emergencies.
• Maintain constant vigilance and provide a high level of customer service.
• Participate in ongoing training to ensure compliance with safety, rescue, and emergency response protocols.
