Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent, or current enrollment in a GED program.
• Must meet paraprofessional requirements for Alaska: 48 college credits OR ETS Paraprofessional score 459+ OR WorkKeys OR ASD Master Teacher paraprofessional training.
• Excellent organizational and record keeping skills.

Responsibilities

• Provides tutorial sessions independently or with the classroom teacher.
• Develops individual tutorial plans for students.
• Completes English Language Learners Program identification and assessment reports.
• Maintains attendance and records for ELL students.
• Collaborates with teachers to determine ESL needs and sets learning objectives.
• Liaises between school, teachers, and families when a language other than English is necessary.
• Introduces multicultural awareness information to LEP students and teachers.
