Qualifications

• Must hold a valid teacher license in the state where you are applying.
• For EL positions, preferably a license for the grades you will serve (K-8 or 6-12) and an ESL/NS or bilingual endorsement; pathway toward licensure within three years and endorsement within 2 years.
• Demonstrates knowledge of first and second language acquisition theory, second language learning patterns, and best practices in English language development.
• Awareness and acceptance of cultural differences exhibited by students and families.
• Advocacy for multilingual families within the school.
• Reads, analyzes, and interprets student academic data.
• Communicates effectively with classroom teachers, administration, and families.

Responsibilities

• Plans and delivers lessons to promote students’ English language development.
• Collaborates with classroom teachers and specialists to ensure EL/ML achievement across content areas using Sheltered Instruction and ELD models.
• Administers formative and summative assessments to monitor language progress and student achievement.
• Completes documentation required for state and federal compliance.
• Completes daily logs of student services.
• Attends regular Professional Development offerings.
• Available for afternoon and evening parent-teacher conferences and school events.
• Additional duties as assigned.
