Job summary

Ashtabula County ESC in Ashtabula, Ohio seeks an English Language Learner (ELL) Teacher to provide language instruction and support to students whose primary language is not English. This part-time position reports to Supervisor of Pupil Services.

Qualifications include a bachelor's degree, Ohio teaching license in elementary or secondary education, TESOL endorsement, strong communication skills, and ability to collaborate with staff. A clear BCI/FBI background check is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited institution.
• Ohio State Board of Education license in Elementary and/or Secondary education.
• TESOL endorsement.
• Ability to work independently and in collaboration with a team.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Successful BCI/FBI background check.

Responsibilities

• Administer the OELPS to identify a student’s level of English proficiency.
• Administer the OELPA yearly to determine proficient level.
• Plan and deliver targeted English language instruction and adapt lessons for multilingual students.
• Build students’ English language proficiency and support academic success across content areas.
• Develop standards-aligned lessons that promote listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to support access to the general education curriculum.
• Monitor student progress and document language development.
• Communicate with families and school personnel regarding student progress.
• Create a welcoming, inclusive, and culturally responsive learning environment.
