Job summary

Horizon Science Academy Westerville seeks an ELL Teacher to support English learners with language development, data-driven instruction, and strong family outreach. You will design engaging lessons, monitor progress, and collaborate with staff to align instruction across the curriculum.

The ideal candidate holds an OH teaching certificate in the appropriate field, a Bachelor's or Master’s in Education, and values PBIS, cultural responsiveness, and ongoing professional growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Education or similar concentration.
• OH teaching certificate/license in appropriate subject area.
• TESOL endorsement preferred but not required.
• Experience with primary school age students preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support school mission and policies toward students, parents and coworkers.
• Design and deliver developmentally appropriate curriculum and instruction.
• Establish a classroom culture of high expectations.
• Use data to refine instruction and assessments.
• Collaborate with teachers and leadership to improve practices.

Position requirements:

Teaching Responsibilities:

• Support the school's mission, philosophies, values, goals, and policies toward students, parents/guardians and coworkers
• Design and effectively deliver developmentally appropriate curriculum and instruction which reflects observations and goals of individual children
• Establish a classroom culture of high expectations
• Work with the faculty and school leadership to frequently examine student data for ongoing refinement of instruction and assessment
• Share best practices with other teachers and collaborate with them to improve instructional and assessment practices
• Facilitate regular parent/guardian communications and conferences to discuss student progress
• Maintain an organized, attractive and safe classroom environment
• Have an understanding of PBIS strategies or willingness to learn
• Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and other stakeholders
• Have an understanding of PBIS strategies or willingness to learn

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree or Master's Degree in Education or similar concentration
• An endorsement in TESOL or Reading preferred, but not required.
• Experience with primary school age students preferred
• Valid OH teaching certificate/license or must be in the process of obtaining a valid OH teaching certificate/license in appropriate subject area
