Job summary

Salem Public Schools in Salem, MA seeks a Multilingual Language Learner Teacher for Salem High School for SY 2026-2027. The teacher provides direct language instruction to ML students to improve English proficiency and academic language.

Work with the ML team to plan lessons aligned to WIDA Can-Do descriptors and CCSS, collaborate with general education teachers, engage families, and monitor student progress.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required; Master’s preferred.
• Massachusetts ESL teaching certification required.
• SEI Endorsement required within 1 year of start date.
• Urban school experience preferred.
• Second language ability a plus (Spanish/Portuguese).

Responsibilities

• Teaches ELD classes aligned to WIDA Can-Do Descriptors and CCSS.
• Plans accessible, scaffolded curricula and daily lesson plans.
• Promotes a positive, inclusive classroom environment.
• Collaborates with general education teachers; co-plans/co-teaches as assigned.
• Communicates regularly with families in a culturally proficient manner.
• Monitors and reports students' English development progress.
