Job summary

Des Moines Public School District MONROE ELEMENTARY is seeking a Classroom Associate to assist teachers with reading and math instruction and supervise students. The role supports a diverse student population and requires reliable attendance and respectful collaboration with staff.

Responsibilities include monitoring progress, maintaining records, and following developmentally appropriate practices. The position is funded for Title I and involves normal school-day duties and confidentiality

Qualifications

• High school diploma, HiSET or G.E.D. required.
• Ability to relate to students and work with a diverse population.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist classroom teacher with reading and math instruction in small groups or one-on-one.
• Monitor student progress and maintain records with feedback when requested.
• Follow directions from the classroom teacher and work collaboratively.
• Use positive reinforcement to support behavior throughout the school day.
• Participate in professional development and required trainings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
