Job summary

Marymount School in New York seeks a Varsity Fencing Coach to lead and support student-athletes during the winter season, building a positive, inclusive, and collaborative team culture.

The ideal candidate has at least two years of coaching experience, deep fencing knowledge, strong communication and organizational skills, and CPR/AED certification. Responsibilities include practices, competitions, logistics, meetings, and mentorship of assistant coaches.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of relevant coaching experience; high school/college coaching or playing experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of fencing skills, strategy, and competition.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, colleagues, and school administrators.
• CPR/AED certification and completion of all required school paperwork.

Responsibilities

• Attend and actively participate in all practices and competitions.
• Oversee daily team logistics, including practice and competition travel.
• Attend required athletic and school meetings and events.
• Supervise, mentor, and collaborate with assistant coaches.
• Manage coaching responsibilities, including attendance, roster management, competition-day operations, score reporting, uniform distribution and collection, and team-specific events.
• Communicate effectively and consistently with student-athletes, families, coaches, and school administrators.
• Foster a team culture that emphasizes skill development, sportsmanship, commitment, teamwork, and personal growth.
• Uphold the highest professional and ethical standards and adhere to Marymount’s mission, AAIS league guidelines, and NYSAIS regulations.
