Job summary

Proviso Township High Schools District 209 is seeking a Boys Volleyball Varsity Head Coach to lead and develop a competitive program under the direction of the Athletic Director. This stipend position covers coaching, planning, and mentoring student-athletes with emphasis on safety, sportsmanship, and academic eligibility.

The ideal candidate will hold an Illinois State Teaching Certificate or ASEP/NFHS/IHSA coaching credentials, complete concussion and Title IX training, and demonstrate strong

Qualifications

• Valid Illinois State Teaching Certificate (Type 03, 09, or 10) OR ASEP/NFHS Certification, as mandated by IHSA.
• CPR and AED certification compliant with state law and IHSA regulations.
• IHSA-mandated concussion awareness training and safety protocols.
• Background check and fingerprinting clearance per Illinois School Code.
• Completion of federal Title IX training for anti-discrimination compliance.
• Coaching certification through ASEP, NFHS, or IHSA-approved programs if non-teaching staff.
• Concussion certification typically valid for two years.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage all aspects of the program.
• Lead and supervise with strong organizational skills.
• Foster a cooperative, inclusive environment for students, staff, and parents.
• Inspire student-athletes and coaches through professionalism.
• Plan and implement training programs based on best practices in the sport.
• Instruct in fundamental skills, team strategies, and safety protocols.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and eligibility requirements.
• Coordinate with Athletic Director on scheduling, budgeting, and equipment.
