GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

The Elite Stylist engages with guests, consulting on their hair care needs, recommending products and services, and delivering high-quality professional services focused on the guest’s overall look. They support the Experience Manager and Assistant Services Manager, emphasizing performance, guest service, and adherence to operational procedures. A passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service skills, and product knowledge are essential.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Elite Stylist champions Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values by performing the following duties:

Performance
  • Perform hair services such as design, cuts, color, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, and ear piercing (where applicable).
  • Meet or exceed a weekly sales goal of $1900 and productivity targets, contributing to store sales, guest loyalty, and retail shrink goals.
  • Demonstrate products to guests to enhance sales and guest experience.
  • Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, products, and services, and communicate their benefits to guests.
  • Maintain consistent attendance.
People
  • Build guest relationships through consultations and tailored recommendations.
  • Serve all guests efficiently, including walk-ins.
  • Collaborate with skin therapists and retail teams to provide a comprehensive guest experience.
  • Establish professional relationships with peers and brand partners.
  • Promote the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
  • Attend mandatory training and meetings for professional development.
Process
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Follow safety, sanitation, and infection control protocols in accordance with regulations.
  • Adhere to service protocols for consistent guest experiences.
  • Use booking and client management systems effectively.
  • Communicate supply needs to the Experience Manager.
  • Maintain cleanliness and operational standards in the salon and store areas.
  • Follow the Ulta Beauty dress code.
  • Follow loss prevention practices and provide excellent guest service.
  • Perform other operational tasks as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education
  • Cosmetology license required.
Experience
  • Relevant work experience required.
Skills
  • Proficiency in salon techniques and equipment use; willingness to develop skills across service categories.
  • Ability to recommend and sell professional hair care and makeup products.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Capability to build and maintain customer relationships and clientele.
SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Continuous mobility, standing, bending, reaching, and twisting during shifts.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 10 lbs.
