GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE
The Elite Stylist engages with guests, consulting on hair care needs, recommending products and services, and delivering quality professional services focused on the guest’s overall look. They support the Experience Manager (EM) and Assistant Services Manager (ASM) and focus on performance, people, and process, requiring a passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and strong product knowledge communication skills.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Performance
- Perform hair services such as design, cuts, color, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, and ear piercing (where applicable).
- Achieve or exceed weekly sales goals of $1900 on average, contributing to store sales, guest loyalty, and retail shrink reduction.
- Conduct product demonstrations to enhance sales and guest experience.
- Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives to provide an exceptional guest experience.
- Stay informed on industry trends, products, and services, and communicate their benefits effectively to guests.
- Maintain consistent attendance.
People
- Develop strong guest relationships through consultations and tailored recommendations.
- Serve all guests efficiently, including walk-ins.
- Collaborate with skin therapists and retail teams for a comprehensive guest experience.
- Build professional relationships with peers and brand partners to enhance service delivery.
- Promote the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
- Participate in mandatory training and meetings for ongoing professional development.
Process
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
- Follow safety, sanitation, and infection control protocols, adhering to state guidelines.
- Follow established service protocols for consistency and quality.
- Use booking and client management systems effectively.
- Communicate supply needs to the EM to ensure guest readiness.
- Maintain cleanliness and operational standards in the salon and store areas.
- Adhere to the dress code and loss prevention practices.
- Perform other operational tasks as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Cosmetology license required.
Experience
- Relevant prior work experience required.
Skills
- Proficiency in the latest salon techniques across various services and the ability to develop skills in all categories.
- Knowledge of equipment and chemicals used in technical services.
- Ability to demonstrate, recommend, and sell professional hair care and makeup products.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Capacity to build and maintain customer relationships and clientele.
