GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

The Elite Stylist engages with guests, consulting on hair care needs and recommending products and services. They deliver high-quality services focused on the guest’s overall look, supporting the Experience Manager (EM) and Assistant Services Manager (ASM). The role emphasizes performance, guest service, and adherence to operational standards, requiring a passion for beauty, excellent guest interactions, and product knowledge.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Elite Stylist embodies Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values, performing the following essential duties and other assigned tasks:

Performance

• Perform various hair services including cuts, color, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, and ear piercing (where applicable).
• Achieve or surpass a weekly sales target of $1900 and meet productivity goals through exceptional guest service and sales efforts.
• Conduct product demonstrations to enhance sales and guest experience.
• Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives to elevate guest satisfaction.
• Stay informed on industry trends, products, and services to better serve guests.
• Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality.

People

• Build guest relationships through consultations and tailored recommendations.
• Serve all guests efficiently, including walk-ins.
• Collaborate with skin therapists and retail team to provide comprehensive guest experiences.
• Develop professional relationships with peers and brand partners for collaborative service delivery.
• Promote loyalty programs, including credit and app benefits.
• Attend mandatory training and meetings for ongoing professional development.

Process

• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
• Follow safety, sanitation, and infection control protocols, adhering to state guidelines.
• Follow established service protocols for consistency and quality.
• Use booking and client management systems effectively.
• Communicate supply needs to the EM to ensure guest readiness.
• Maintain cleanliness and operational standards in the salon and store areas.
• Adhere to the Ulta Beauty dress code and loss prevention practices.
• Perform other operational duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• Cosmetology license required.

Experience

• Relevant prior work experience required.

Skills

• Proficiency in latest salon techniques across various services and ability to develop skills in all categories.
• Competence with salon equipment and chemicals.
• Ability to demonstrate, recommend, and sell professional hair care and makeup products.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Capability to build and maintain customer relationships and clientele.

SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Continuous mobility and physical activity during shifts.
