General Summary & Scope

The Elite Stylist engages with guests, consults on hair care needs, and recommends products and services. They deliver quality professional services focusing on the guest’s total look, supporting the Experience Manager (EM) and Assistant Services Manager (ASM). The role emphasizes performance, guest service, and adherence to operating procedures, requiring a passion for the beauty industry and excellent communication skills.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

Performance

• Perform hair design, cuts, color, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, and ear piercing (if applicable).
• Meet or exceed weekly sales goals of $1900 and productivity targets through excellent guest service and sales.
• Conduct product demonstrations to enhance sales and guest experience.
• Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives.
• Stay informed on industry trends, products, and services, understanding their ingredients and benefits.
• Maintain regular attendance.

People

• Develop guest relationships through consultations and recommendations.
• Serve all guests promptly and efficiently, including walk-ins.
• Collaborate with skin therapists and retail teams for a comprehensive guest experience.
• Build professional relationships with peers and brand partners.
• Promote the guest loyalty program, credit benefits, and the Ulta Beauty app.
• Attend mandatory training and meetings for professional development.

Process

• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
• Follow safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures according to guidelines.
• Adhere to service protocols to ensure consistent, exceptional guest experiences.
• Use booking and clientele systems effectively.
• Communicate supply needs to the EM and ensure guest readiness.
• Maintain store cleanliness and operational standards.
• Follow the dress code and protect company assets.
• Perform other operational tasks as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Education

• Cosmetology license required.

Experience

• Relevant prior work experience required.

Skills

• Proficiency in latest salon techniques across all service categories; ability to learn new skills.
• Experience with salon equipment and chemicals.
• Ability to demonstrate, recommend, and sell hair care and makeup products.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Ability to build and maintain client relationships.

Special Position Requirements

• Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Working Conditions

• Mobility, lifting up to 10 lbs, bending, reaching, twisting, and standing for long periods.
