GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

The Elite Stylist engages with guests, consulting on their hair care needs and recommending products and services. They deliver quality professional services focused on the guest’s overall look, supporting the Experience Manager (EM) and Assistant Services Manager (ASM). The role emphasizes performance (sales and productivity), guest service, and adherence to operating procedures and standards. A passion for beauty, exceptional guest service, and product knowledge are essential.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Elite Stylist embodies Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values, performing the following duties and other assigned tasks:

Performance

• Perform various hair services including design, cuts, color, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, and ear piercing (if applicable).
• Achieve or surpass an average weekly sales goal of $1900, contributing to store targets related to retail and service sales, guest loyalty, and retail shrinkage.
• Conduct product demonstrations to enhance sales and guest experience.
• Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives to deliver exceptional guest experiences.
• Stay informed on industry trends, products, and services, and communicate their benefits effectively to guests.
• Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality.

People

• Develop strong guest relationships through consultations and recommendations.
• Serve all guests efficiently, including walk-ins.
• Collaborate with skin therapists and retail teams to provide comprehensive guest service.
• Build professional relationships with peers and brand partners for collaborative success.
• Promote guest loyalty programs, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
• Attend mandatory training and meetings for ongoing professional development.

Process

• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
• Follow safety, sanitation, and infection control protocols, adhering to state guidelines.
• Follow established service protocols to ensure consistent, high-quality guest experiences.
• Use booking and client management systems effectively for appointments and events.
• Communicate supply needs to the Experience Manager to ensure guest readiness.
• Maintain cleanliness and operational standards in the salon and store areas.
• Adhere to the Ulta Beauty dress code.
• Follow loss prevention and customer service best practices.
• Perform other operational duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Education: Cosmetology license required.

Experience: Relevant prior work experience required.

Skills:

• Proficiency in the latest salon techniques across all service categories, with a willingness to learn and develop skills.
• Ability to operate equipment and handle chemicals safely.
• Skill in demonstrating, recommending, and selling hair care and makeup products.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Capability to build and maintain customer relationships and clientele.

Special Position Requirements

• Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Working Conditions

• Constant mobility, standing, bending, reaching, and twisting during shift.

The pay range is $10.70 - $18.40/hour or services pay, based on various factors. Full-time benefits include paid time off, health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance.
