The Rector & Visitors of the University of Virginia is seeking a Registered Nurse in its 60-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at UVA Health to deliver advanced, family-centered care to high-acuity newborns within a leading academic medical system.

In this role you will collaborate with neonatologists and specialists, use evidence-based protocols, and contribute to teaching and research, while supporting families through critical moments and professional growth.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program required.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire.
• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in Virginia (Virginia RN license) required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive, family-centered nursing care to critically ill neonates across acuity levels.
• Perform continuous assessment, monitoring, and intervention for prematurity, respiratory distress, congenital anomalies, and post-surgical recovery.
• Partner with neonatologists, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate individualized care plans.
• Utilize advanced technologies and evidence-based protocols to support optimal patient outcomes.
• Educate and support families through highly emotional and complex care journeys.
• Contribute to a fast-paced, highly specialized unit where clinical expertise and adaptability are essential.
• Engage in continuous learning within an academic setting that supports professional growth, research, and innovation.
