Job summary

The Transportation Security Administration seeks Federal Air Marshals to protect commercial flights from terrorism and other threats, operating on planes and on the ground to safeguard passengers and the nation’s transportation system.

Candidates must meet eligibility, pass background checks and training, and may face irregular schedules and frequent travel. Pay ranges $30.00–$60.00 per hour; assignments may be domestic or international.

Qualifications

• Three years of progressively responsible experience in related field.
• Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
• Qualifying combination of post-secondary education and relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Protect commercial flights from terrorist activity, aircraft piracy, and other threats.
• Work discreetly aboard domestic and international flights.
• Assess situations and respond with limited backup while on duty.
• Carry firearms and maintain required firearms proficiency.
• Conduct investigations, provide advisory input, and interview witnesses.
• Make arrests and seek warrants within legal authority.
