Job summary

The Transportation Security Administration’s Federal Air Marshal Service seeks qualified candidates for a demanding role protecting commercial aviation. Responsibilities include discreetly operating on flights, conducting investigations, and coordinating with multi‑agency partners to prevent threats.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens, 21+, eligible for a Top Secret clearance, and capable of mobility and travel. A bachelor’s degree or higher is acceptable, with experience-based paths available.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen or U.S. national.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Must obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
• Must pass full background investigation.
• Must be legally eligible to possess and carry a firearm.
• Must be willing to mobility and travel for assignments.
• Education/experience options vary by vacancy; transcripts may be required.

Responsibilities

• Protect commercial passenger flights from terrorist activity and other threats.
• Work discreetly aboard domestic and international flights.
• Assess situations and respond to threats with limited backup.
• Carry firearms and maintain proficiency for federal duties.
• Conduct law enforcement and investigative activities.
• Interview witnesses or suspects when required.
• Make arrests and seek warrants within authority.
• Participate in multi‑agency operations with federal, state, and local partners.
• Support ground transportation and counterterrorism missions.
• Undertake specialized assignments, including Counter-UAS operations.
