Job summary

Transportation Security Administration is seeking Federal Air Marshals to protect commercial flights and counter threats to aviation. This full-time role requires discretion, judgment, physical readiness, and firearms proficiency while operating on aircraft and on the ground.

Officers may be assigned domestic or international locations, with irregular schedules and frequent travel. Applicants must meet stringent eligibility criteria and pass a series of assessments and background checks.

Qualifications

• Three years of progressively responsible experience in problem-solving, planning, organization, and communication; or
• A bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university; or
• A qualifying combination of education and relevant experience

Responsibilities

• Protect commercial passenger flights from terrorist activity, aircraft piracy, and other threats
• Work discreetly aboard domestic and international flights
• Assess situations and respond with limited backup
• Carry a firearm and maintain federal firearms proficiency
• Conduct law enforcement, investigative, analytical, and advisory activities
• Identify and interview witnesses or suspects as required
• Make arrests and execute warrants within legal authority
• Participate in multi-agency operations with federal, state, and local partners
• Support ground-based security and counterterrorism missions
• Perform other specialized assignments, including Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems operations
