Job summary

Transportation Security Administration is seeking Federal Air Marshals to protect commercial flights from terrorism and other threats. These officers operate on flights and on the ground, with duties spanning risk assessment, law enforcement, and cooperative operations across agencies.

The role requires discretion, physical readiness, and the ability to work under high pressure, including irregular schedules and travel. Training and security clearances are mandatory.

Qualifications

• Progressively responsible experience in problem-solving, planning, or communication.
• Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution.
• Combination of education and experience may qualify.

Responsibilities

• Protect commercial passenger flights from terrorism and other threats.
• Work discreetly aboard domestic and international flights.
• Assess situations and respond with limited backup.
• Carry a firearm and maintain firearms proficiency.
• Conduct law enforcement, investigations, and advisory work.
• Identify and interview witnesses or suspects when required.
• Make arrests and execute warrants within authority.
• Participate in multi-agency operations with federal, state, and local partners.
• Support ground-based security and counterterrorism missions.
• Perform other specialized assignments, including Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems operations.
