Job summary

ATF is seeking experienced Criminal Investigators to conduct complex investigations for crimes involving firearms, explosives, arson, and organized crime. You will work with a broad network of federal, state, and local partners to address violations of ATF-enforced laws.

The role emphasizes investigation leadership, strategic planning, and coordination across agencies, including potential training and mobility commitments within the Office of Field Operations.

Qualifications

• One year of specialized experience in criminal investigations or equivalent.
• GS-11/12/13 level qualifications with progressive responsibility.
• Education substitutions (PhD or graduate degrees) may apply.

Responsibilities

• Perform the full range of expert level criminal investigations for complex cases.
• Develop leads from known criminal activities and initiate investigations.
• Coordinate planning and operations across Federal, State, county, and local agencies.
• Engage in surveillance or undercover work as required and coordinate with teams.
