Job summary

Action Group Staffing is assisting a commercial HVAC client in their search for an experienced HVAC Journeyman / Commercial Service Technician in Tulsa, OK. The ideal candidate will troubleshoot, service, maintain, and repair large-scale HVAC systems, including chillers, boilers, and rooftop units.

This full-time role offers a hourly pay of $35–$50, a Monday–Friday schedule, and an on-call rotation every six weeks. A company vehicle and cell phone are provided once hired onboard.

Qualifications

• Journeyman-level experience in commercial HVAC service and repair.
• Strong knowledge of commercial heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems.
• Experience troubleshooting three-phase motors, contactors, relays, and electrical control circuits.
• Ability to diagnose and service equipment ranging from 1-ton mini-splits to 300-ton systems.
• Experience with chillers, boilers, cooling towers, rooftop units, and air handling systems.
• Knowledge of Building Automation Systems (BAS), including Johnson Controls, Honeywell, or Trane.
• Experience installing and programming Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
• Ability to diagnose refrigeration issues using superheat and subcooling analysis.
• Knowledge of refrigerant recovery and charging procedures in accordance with EPA regulations.
• Strong understanding of electrical safety and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
• Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with other service technicians.
• Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation every 6 weeks.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems.
• Perform electrical testing and repairs on motors, contactors, relays, control boards, and other components.
• Service and maintain chillers, boilers, cooling towers, rooftop units, and commercial heating systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance, including belt replacements, pulley alignment, bearing lubrication, and filter changes.
• Clean coils, condensers, and other HVAC components to maintain equipment efficiency.
• Calibrate thermostats, sensors, and controls to maintain proper temperature and humidity levels.
• Troubleshoot and program Building Automation Systems (BAS) and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
• Perform refrigerant leak detection, recovery, and charging in accordance with EPA regulations.
• Install and replace HVAC equipment, refrigeration components, electrical controls, and duct systems.
• Perform combustion analysis and safety inspections on commercial heating equipment.
• Assist with crane and rigging coordination for rooftop equipment replacements.
• Follow all company safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout requirements.
• Document service work, equipment readings, repairs, and recommendations using mobile field software.
• Communicate with customers regarding equipment issues, repair recommendations, and service needs.
• Identify opportunities to improve HVAC system performance and energy efficiency.
• Work closely with other service technicians to complete projects safely and efficiently.
