Job summary

Florida Gulf Coast University is seeking an Athletics Grounds Turf & Clay Specialist to maintain the fields and surrounding grounds at the Outdoor Athletic Complexes, including preparing and maintaining athletic fields and assisting with turf care chemicals.

The role involves daily turf maintenance, coordinating with the athletics grounds team, supervising OPS students, and ensuring game day readiness for baseball, softball, and soccer in compliance with NCAA and FGCU standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with at least 1 year of related work experience.
• Experience in turf, grounds maintenance, or athletic field care.
• Commercial pesticide license preferred.
• Ability to operate and maintain sports turf equipment.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate athletic turf and grounds maintenance with the athletics team.
• Perform daily turf maintenance: mowing, edging, weeding, trimming, and debris removal.
• Prepare game day and event sites for baseball, softball, and soccer.
• Maintain fields per NCAA, ASUN, and FGCU standards, including clay infields and foul lines.
• Oversee irrigation to keep grass and clay moisture at optimal levels.
• Assist with supervising part-time workers and ensure safe, efficient work.
