Savista is hiring an Eligibility Specialist I in Cape May Court House, NJ. The role supports uninsured and underinsured patients by guiding them through financial assistance programs and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.

The position requires empathy, detail orientation, and the ability to navigate complex healthcare systems to help patients access needed care. Work is full-time, 40 hours weekly, onsite with shifts including evenings and weekends to meet needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• English and Spanish proficiency highly preferred.
• At least 1 year of experience in a customer-facing role, preferably in healthcare or financial counseling.
• Flexibility to provide support at nearby hospital locations within assigned market area.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities and attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to identify solutions to financial challenges using program knowledge.
• Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Meet with patients in-person to assess eligibility and provide guidance on available programs.
• Facilitate applications for Medicaid, Medicare, Disability, and hospital charity care with timely documentation.
• Act as liaison between patients, hospital staff, and government agencies to establish eligibility and secure funding.
• Manage multiple patient cases, prioritizing tasks and following up on pending applications.
• Communicate financial obligations and program details empathetically.
• Maintain accurate and confidential records in compliance with HIPAA.
• Contribute to productivity and quality metrics for financial counseling objectives.
• Use multiple systems and databases to gather, track, and report patient data.
• Assist with vacancy coverage as needed.
• Complete special projects as assigned.

Work Schedule and Location:

• Work Hours: Fulltime, 40 hours per week,hourly position. Flexibility required, with shifts available betweenMonday throughSundayfrom3:30pm toMidnightto meet business needs, colleagues will also be required to work 2 weekends a month.

KeyResponsibilities

• Meet with patients in-person, including bedside visits, to assess financial assistance eligibility and provide compassionate guidance on available programs.

• Facilitate the application process for programs such as Medicaid, Medicare, Disability, and hospital charity care, ensuring timely submission of accurate documentation.

• Act as aliaisonbetween patients, hospital staff, and government agencies toestablisheligibility,secure funding and resolve coverage issues.

• Manage multiple patient cases,prioritizing tasks to meet deadlinesand ensure effective follow-up on pending applications.

• Clearly communicate financial obligations, funding options, and program details to patients in an empathetic and professional manner.

• Maintain accurate and confidential records in compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies.

• Consistently achieve productivity and qualitymetrics, contributing to the organization’s financialcounselingobjectives.

• Efficiently use multiple systems and databases to gather, track, and report on patient data.

• Assist with vacancy coverage, as needed.

• Complete special projects, as assigned.

Qualifications & Competencies:

Required:

• High school diploma or GED

• Proficiencyin Englishand Spanishhighly preferred

• Basic knowledge of state and federal assistance programs such as Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security Disability.

• Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare accounts receivable processes.

Savista is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from$18.00to $21.00perhour. However, specific compensation for the role will vary within the above range based on many factors including but not limited to geographic location, candidate experience, applicable certifications, and skills.
