Job summary

State of Connecticut, Department of Social Services (DSS) in Bridgeport, CT seeks an Eligibility Services Specialist to support frontline staff in determining client eligibility for public assistance. The role includes onboarding, coaching, and performance monitoring within a hybrid work setting.

The candidate should have six years of eligibility experience (one year at the Eligibility Services Worker level) and strong communication and supervisory skills to mentor a fast-paced contact center

Qualifications

• Six years of experience determining client eligibility for public assistance.
• One year of experience at the level of an Eligibility Services Worker.
• College training may substitute for experience (15 semester hours = 0.5 year; max 4 years for Bachelor's).
• A Master's degree may substitute for one additional year of General Experience.

Responsibilities

• Plans unit workflow and determines priorities.
• Schedules, assigns, oversees and reviews work.
• Provides staff training and assistance including monitoring and assessing needs.
• Conducts performance evaluations and liaises with other units and agencies.
• Provides guidance on complex eligibility cases and program policies.
• Monitors service levels and contributes to continuous improvement.
