Job summary

Lutheran Life Villages is seeking an Eligibility Coordinator to guide residents and families through Medicaid eligibility, insurance verification, and benefit checks. You will file Medicaid applications, manage redeterminations, and serve as the first point of contact for the Finance Department and payer switches.

You will help residents understand their financial coverage, attend care planning as needed, and travel between LLV campuses to meet with families.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and two-year associate degree or substantial work experience related to long-term care or healthcare.
• 2-3 years in a business office, Medicaid eligibility experience for long-term care, or related financial experience preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication, excellent customer service, basic accounting, Microsoft Office proficiency, attention to detail, and self-motivation.

Responsibilities

• Submit and track Medicaid and MedWaiver Applications for all locations.
• Submit and track Medicaid and MedWaiver Redeterminations for all locations.
• Serve as primary contact for Finance Department calls and emails to Medicaid and MedWaiver.
• Notify Medicaid of admits and discharges.
• Assist residents with understanding financial coverage related to their stay and participate in care plans as needed.
• Occasionally travel to LLV campuses to meet residents and families.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As an Eligibility Coordinator, you will be responsible for several aspects of resident customer service and financial eligibility including insurance verification and benefit checks, filing Medicaid applications and redeterminations, and answering questions from residents and family members related to their stay. It also includes adhering to any changes in Medicaid policies and assisting residents with payer source changes when needed.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Submitting and tracking Medicaid and MedWaiver Applications until approved for all locations.
• Submitting and tracking Medicaid and MedWaiver Redeterminations for all locations.
• Acting as the first point of contact for all calls and emails to the Finance Department and payer switches to Medicaid and MedWaiver.
• Notifying Medicaid of any Medicaid and MedWaiver admits and discharges.
• Upholding LLV policy to submit and track applications to Social Security for LLV to become Rep Payee for Nursing Home Medicaid residents.
• Assisting any resident and/or family in understanding their financial coverage as it relates to their stay, including attending care plans when needed.
• Commuting to LLV campuses to meet with residents and their families as needed.
• Verification of benefits for potential admissions.
• Billing miscellaneous charges such as haircare, labs, x-rays, supplies, pharmacy, and therapy.
• Provide back-up support for the Finance Department as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU NEED

• Education/Training: High school diploma and two-year associates degree or substantial work experience directly related to the long-term care industry or healthcare.
• Work Experience: A minimum of 2-3 years working in a business office, experience assisting with Medicaid eligibility for long-term care, or comparable financial and accounting experience preferred.
• Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent customer service, basic accounting, Microsoft Office programs, attention to detail, self-motivated.
