Job summary

MTA Metro-North Railroad is seeking an Elevator Mechanic to inspect, repair, and maintain hydraulic and traction elevators and related equipment in New York State stations and facilities. The role focuses on passenger safety and reliable operation, with emphasis on compliance with ASME 17 and NYS codes.

Candidates must have a NYS Elevator Mechanic license, a high school diploma or GED, a valid NYS driver's license, and the ability to use testing devices and read blueprints.

Qualifications

• Must have High School Diploma or GED/TASC.
• Valid New York State (NYS) Dept. of Labor Elevator Mechanic license.
• Valid New York State Driver’s License or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repairs on elevators and all related equipment.
• Use hand and power tools and testing devices (tachometer, electrical tester, etc.).
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair problems with elevator systems (relays, controls, wiring, contacts, cables, and doors).
• Document all maintenance and repair work.
• Participate in mandatory training to maintain elevator skills.
