Job summary
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Labor and Industry, seeks a career-oriented individual to become a Uniform Construction Code (UCC) Elevator Inspector Trainee. You will learn to inspect elevators and lifting devices for compliance with safety laws, regulations, and standards.
Work from a home-based approved location in Beaver or Butler County, PA, with standard hours 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM and a focus on safety inspections, plan reviews, and investigation support.
Qualifications
- One year of experience in construction, inspection, installation, maintenance, repair, or design of elevators or lifting devices.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Must live in Beaver or Butler County, PA by end of probation.
Responsibilities
- Safety Inspection: assist in checking elevators and lifting devices for proper load design and safe operation.
- Equipment Observation: observe cars, controls, hoist ways, rails, doors, wiring, hydraulics and machinery.
- Plan Compliance: review new installations or major repairs for adherence to approved plans.
- Condition Evaluation: assess whether unsafe equipment may remain in use or must be sealed out of service.
- Accident Investigation: support inquiries into elevator accidents and incidents.
- Report Preparation: help prepare detailed inspection and investigation summaries.
