The selected candidate will perform inspections, testing, and QA to ensure compliance with NYC DOB regulations and building codes. The role requires several years of elevator inspection experience, QEIC certification, and strong documentation and communication skills.
Position SummaryWe are seeking a highly qualified DOB Certified Elevator Inspector to support the New York City Housing Authority NYCHA under the Construction Management as Agent Services IDIQ 6 program The selected candidate will provide elevator inspection testing compliance monitoring and quality assurance services for capital improvement modernization rehabilitation and infrastructure projects throughout NYCHA facilities This role will be responsible for ensuring elevator systems comply with applicable New York City Department of Buildings DOB regulations New York City Building Code requirements industry standards project specifications and safety requirements
Perform elevator inspections and evaluations for modernization rehabilitation repair and new installation projectsConduct and witness required elevator acceptance testing annual inspections and Category 1 and Category 5 testsVerify contractor compliance with approved plans specifications codes and applicable regulationsReview elevator related submittals shop drawings testing reports and technical documentationDocument inspection findings and provide written reports identifying deficiencies corrective actions and compliance issuesCoordinate with CM staff engineers contractors consultants and NYCHA representativesMonitor installation quality and construction progress to ensure adherence to project requirementsParticipate in project meetings and provide technical expertise regarding vertical transportation systemsTrack and report inspection activities punch list items and corrective action statusMaintain inspection records and documentation required by NYCHA and NYC DOB
High school diploma or equivalent requiredMinimum 5 years of elevator inspection elevator construction elevator modernization or vertical transportation experienceCurrent certification as a Qualified Elevator Inspector QEICurrent approval or eligibility to perform inspections under applicable NYC Department of Buildings DOB requirementsStrong knowledge ofNYC Building CodeNYC Elevator CodeASME A171 Safety Code for Elevators and EscalatorsElevator testing and commissioning proceduresExperience preparing inspection reports and compliance documentationStrong communication and documentation skills
