TITLE: Elementary School Tutor
DEPARTMENT: Elementary School Staff
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
RECEIVES GUIDANCE FROM: Building Instructional Coaches, Classroom Teachers, & Building Admin
BASIC FUNCTION: Support students who struggle with meeting grade level learning targets under the guidance and direction of classroom teachers.

Exhibits essential dispositions necessary to build positive working relationships with administration, colleagues, parents, students and the Winterset community.
Provides direct instruction to students in individual and small group settings.
Uses identified student needs to guide the learning process toward student achievement of district’s core content standards.
Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects using formal and informal assessment data aligned to the Iowa Core and Winterset standards.
Uses a variety of instructional strategies and materials consistent with core content standards and the needs/capabilities of individual students.
Creates a classroom environment that is aligned to research-based instruction and conducive to learning as well as appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
Plans, implements, and evaluates learning in accordance with established district curriculum expectations.
Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, administrative guidelines, or specific program requirements.
Develops reasonable rules of behavior and procedures and maintains order in a fair and just manner.
Contacts classroom teacher(s) frequently regarding student improvement and conducts conferences.
Implements all district policies and expected practices.
Adheres to the Iowa Teaching Standards.
Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships and works cooperatively with students, parents and colleagues.
Projects a positive image as an educator in the school and community.
Demonstrates initiative and ability to work without close supervision.

Terms of Employment: 1-Year position paid an hourly rate
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Employee Agreement.
Physical Requirements: Bending, carrying, climbing, travel between job sites, lifting, pushing-pulling, reaching, sitting, standing, and walking
Working Conditions: Includes extremes of temperature and humidity. Hazards include stairs and communicable diseases.
This is an hourly, at-will position supported by Title, At-Risk and SINA funding (as appropriated by the State). Hours and days of work will be determined by the building principal based on student needs.
