Perry Street Prep PCS is hiring full-time, 10-month teachers dedicated to delivering standards-aligned instruction in a dynamic urban setting of Washington, DC. The role emphasizes collaboration, differentiation, and ongoing assessment to support students across PreK-8 in a high-expectation environment.

Qualified candidates hold a Bachelor’s degree, with a Master’s preferred, and at least two years of urban elementary or middle school SPED experience.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Two+ years of teaching experience in elementary or middle school special education in an urban environment preferred.
  • Experience with co-teaching models preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop cohesive standards-aligned curriculum materials and instructional goals grounded in research.
  • Present engaging, rigorous standards-aligned lessons using strong content knowledge.
  • Differentiate instruction for multiple learning styles and abilities.
  • Assess students’ academic and developmental growth through observation and various assessments.
  • Monitor assessment results and refine teaching practices and lesson plans accordingly.
  • Foster a positive learning environment reflecting urgency, rigor, and consistency.
  • Communicate with students, parents, and staff to ensure on-track progress.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The beginning of the 2026-2027 school year has opened up exciting opportunities to join the committed teaching team at Perry Street Prep PCS.

Teaching positions at Perry Street Prep are full-time, salaried, 10-month positions. Teachers at Perry Street Prep are responsible for the following:

  • Collaborating with colleagues in developing cohesive standards-aligned curriculum materials, increasing evidence-based instructional resources, and establishing instructional goals grounded in research
  • Utilizing strong content knowledge to effectively present enticing and rigorous standards-aligned lessons
  • Differentiating instruction to accommodate multiple learning styles and abilities
  • Assessing students’ academic and developmental growth through observation and a variety of assessment methods
  • Tracking and monitoring assessment results in order to regularly refine teaching practices and design differentiated lesson plans
  • Applying the values of urgency, rigor, and consistency to create a positive learning environment that promotes high expectations
  • Communicating with students, parents, school staff to ensure that students are on-track in their learning and making progress towards goals
  • Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS

Perry Street Prep is seeking educators with the following education, experience, and personal philosophy:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university required. Master's degree preferred.
  • Two or more years of teaching experience as an elementary or middle school special education teacher in an urban environment preferred
  • Experience with co-teaching models preferred
  • A belief that all students can learn
