Buffalo Commons is seeking an Elementary Teacher (Special Education) to join as a Founding Teacher. You will lead curricula, collaborate with co-teachers, and help establish teaching and learning systems while reporting to the Director of Curriculum and Instruction.
You will coordinate with grade teams, focus on students with IEP goals, and build strong family partnerships to support student success in an urban charter school setting.
Opening in 2022, Buffalo Commons is an academically rigorous, creative, and collaborative K-8 learning community that uses research-based practices and innovative programming to close the opportunity gap and prepare a diverse student body to lead successful lives which strengthen their communities.
We provide best-in-class academic preparation, supporting each child in becoming an ethical decision-maker, offering all students the tools they need to thrive in our diverse world, and developing every child's sense of purpose.
Nothing leads to student success like working with a great teacher year after year. As a Founding Teacher, you will promote the success of all students through excellence in curriculum, instruction, and community building. Additionally, you will collaborate with your grade-team and co‑teacher to lay the lasting foundations of teaching and learning systems at Buffalo Commons. The Founding Teacher reports to the Director of Curriculum and Instruction.
Commons is a home for inspiring, collaborative, and effective educators that want to help build a school community that is all together different. Are you committed to Buffalo's children and families? Do you enjoy being surrounded by creative and curious colleagues? Are you looking for a fun work environment where you can bring your authentic self? If this sounds like you, perhaps you belong at Commons.
