Job summary

Eden Christian Academy in Pittsburgh, PA seeks an experienced Elementary Teacher to guide science and math education on our Elementary campus. The role emphasizes academic excellence, spiritual development, and Christ-centered instruction within a 10-month, full-time schedule.

The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor's in Education, have classroom experience, and be committed to Eden's faith-informed mission.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field required.
• Teaching experience preferred.
• ACSI certification (or willingness to obtain) required.

Responsibilities

• Direct the academic, spiritual, social and emotional development of students in alignment with the school’s mission.
• Integrate Biblical truths throughout course materials and instruction.
• Assess student progress and tailor lessons as needed.
• Lead in prayer with students and support spiritual growth.
• Collaborate with parents to support education inside and outside the classroom.
• Maintain classroom discipline and supportive learning environment.
• Participate in professional development to enhance teaching skills.

About Eden Christian Academy

Eden Christian Academy is the largest non-denominational, coeducational Christian school in the greater Pittsburgh area, serving students in Preschool through Grade 12 across three campuses. Our mission is to equip students to think and act biblically as they pursue academic excellence and Christ-centered lives.

We are seeking a spiritually grounded and experienced educator to join our Elementary campus to teach Elementary Science/Math.

Position Overview

The Elementary Teacher has the responsibility of directing the academic, spiritual, social and emotional development of students. Eden seeks to provide an exceptional education and a challenge to engage the mind and heart of each student to think and act with Christ-like character.

This is a full-time, 10 month role based in Pittsburgh, PA, with occasional evening and weekend responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure a sound educational environment in the classroom, which adheres to the standard based core curriculum
• Integrate Biblical and mission-aligned truths throughout each of the courses in written materials and oral and written instructions to students
• Assess student academic progress, tailor lessons and provide additional resources, when needed
• Lead in prayer with students and assist in their spiritual development
• Partner with parents to ensure a proper education both inside and outside of the classroom
• Establish an environment for learning that displays proper discipline both in the classroom and on school premises.
• Attend and participate in professional development to further develop teaching skills
• Collaborate with campus principal and fellow educators to support student success and promote personal and professional growth
• Follow all educational and operational policies

Requirements

Qualifications

Spiritual & Mission Alignment

• Committed follower of Jesus Christ, active in a Bible-believing evangelical church
• Agreement with Eden’s Statement of Faith and philosophy of Christian education

Professional Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or related field
• Teaching experience preferred
• ACSI certification (or willingness to obtain)

Skills & Competencies

• Excellent communication, team-building, and interpersonal skills
• Familiarity with instructional technology and current educational trends
• Proficient in tools such as Gmail, Word, Excel, Google Drive, Canva, etc.

Physical & Administrative Requirements

• Must be able to navigate school campuses, including stairs
• Able to lift up to 15 lbs occasionally
• Capable of supervising and engaging students and faculty throughout the day
• Must provide current PA employment clearances (FBI, Child Abuse, State Police)
