Job summary

KIPP Colorado seeks an instructional leader to guide an elementary classroom and drive student outcomes. You will create a culturally responsive student experience and lead standards-aligned instruction, while planning lessons, assessments, and data-driven adjustments.

Job description

  • Serve as the instructional leader of an elementary classroom and drive student outcomes
  • Create an exceptional, culturally responsive student experience and classroom community
  • Develop rigorous, engaging, affirming, grade-level, and culturally sustaining instruction
  • Plan instruction, organize learning activities, internalize lessons, and prepare instructional materials
  • Develop unit plans, scope and sequences, weekly plans, and daily lesson plans
  • Design and implement standards-aligned assessments
  • Grade student work equitably and provide feedback and support
  • Use adopted instructional materials and curriculum with fidelity
  • Analyze student data to adjust instructional plans, reteach, reassess, and monitor progress
  • Implement IEP, 504 Plan, ALP, BIP, and MTSS accommodations, modifications, and interventions
  • Establish relationships with students and families based on trust and respect
  • Maintain high expectations for academic work and classroom behavior
  • Establish and reinforce classroom rules and consequences
  • Manage Tier 1 behaviors and monitor behavior data
  • Provide active supervision to ensure student safety and engagement
  • Participate in arrival, dismissal, breakfast, lunch, hallway, bathroom, transition, and absence-coverage duties
  • Collaborate with special services and special education staff
  • Attend school functions, parent meetings, conferences, evening events, and community events
  • Conduct home visits and phone calls to families
  • Communicate regularly with families about academic progress and behavior
  • Maintain accurate records, grade books, and data tracking systems
  • Participate in coaching, professional development, grade-level meetings, department meetings, and school-wide initiatives
  • Support student and staff recruitment and engagement events
  • Travel around Denver to KIPP campuses, the Home Office, and professional development events as required
  • Complete specialized certification requirements and maintain ESSA compliance
  • Report to a member of the school leadership team
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree (required)
  • Ability and willingness to fulfill state and federal guidelines for Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) criteria (required)
  • Ability to participate in required before-school, after-school, evening, and weekend events and activities
  • Full understanding of KIPP and commitment to an Exceptional Student Experience (required)
  • Commitment to and experience with youth from varied cultural and economic backgrounds
  • Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to manage ambiguity and multiple priorities

  • Spanish bilingual ability preferred
  • At least 2 years of teaching experience highly preferred but not required
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States; KIPP Colorado does not provide sponsorship
  • Must complete specialized certification requirements, including applicable MLE coursework, CDE literacy modules, ECE professional licensure, and ESSA highly qualified status
