Job summary

West Valley School District is hiring Core Substitute Teachers with an Elementary Focus. These substitutes are assigned primarily to elementary or secondary grade bands and may be reassigned to support district-wide coverage.

Substitutes work on a daily basis, with a guaranteed schedule on student learning days. The role requires strong classroom management, adaptability, and collaboration with diverse student populations across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• Valid Washington State teaching certificate required.
• Must be able to obtain fingerprint clearance and pass safety checks.
• Experience supporting elementary students preferred.
• Ability to adapt to district-wide substitute staffing needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction aligned to district content standards and lesson plans.
• Maintain a safe, positive classroom environment with effective behavior management.
• Deliver engaging lessons and monitor student progress.
• Supervise students during the school day and transitions.
• Maintain accurate student records as required.
• Follow district-provided curriculum and resources.
