Job summary

Detroit Country Day School is seeking a Lower School Substitute Teacher for PK3 through 3rd grade. The role is on-call and may involve half or full workdays, with hours generally from early morning until mid-afternoon.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education or a related field is required.
• Teaching Certification is preferred.
• A minimum of 1–3 years of experience is preferred.
• Flexible and willing to adapt to change on short notice.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills are expected.
• Collaborative team player with strong judgement and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Deliver lesson plans and activities provided by classroom teachers.
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
• Responsible for the health and safety of assigned students.
• Implement school emergency procedures as necessary.
• Collaborate with faculty, students, parents, and administrators as appropriate.
• Perform other assigned teacher duties, as needed.
