Job summary

Goodrich Area Schools is seeking an Elementary Student Success Coach to support students, staff, and families with social-emotional needs, including mental health and behavior. The coach will consult with educators to strengthen classrooms and promote SEL throughout the school.

This school-year role requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field and appropriate licensure, plus the ability to conduct individual and group SEL sessions, monitor progress, and collaborate with district and community

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, School Psychology or related field.
  • Appropriate license/certification.
  • Knowledge of SEL strategies (PBIS, MTSS, SEL standards, Restorative Practices).
  • Ability to support IDEA and Section 504 procedures and goals.

Responsibilities

  • Support student behavior intervention and MTSS initiatives.
  • Observe and assess students with SEL challenges or trauma.
  • Develop action plans with teams for individual support.
  • Track grades, attendance, and behavior to monitor progress.
  • Provide direct support for social-emotional needs.
  • Collaborate with district and community supports for wraparound services.
  • Represent the school and district professionally.

Job description

Summary: The Elementary Student Success Coach will support students, staff, and families with social-emotional needs including mental health and behavior needs. The coach will consult with educators on ways to strengthen their classrooms to promote the social-emotional development of all students.



Qualifications and Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, School Psychology or in a related field.

  • Appropriate license/certification.

  • Knowledge of best practices in school climate and SEL strategies (i.e. Student Mental Health, PBIS, MTSS, SEL standards, Restorative Practices, tiered behavior interventions, etc.).

  • Ability to assist teachers, students, and parents in implementing principles of effective discipline, Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) procedures, and Section 504 procedures.

  • Ability to conduct individual & group sessions for students on a variety of SEL topics.

  • Ability to track, monitor, and report performance of students.

  • Collaborative team player, excellent interpersonal skills, and a strategic and critical thinker.



Essential Functions and Representative Duties


  • Support student behavior intervention, school discipline, Restorative Practices, PBIS, MTSS, student mental health, and building and district initiatives.

  • Observe and assess students with social-emotional-behavior challenges as well as students that have experienced trauma and have mental health needs.

  • Work with teams to develop action plans that identify appropriate interventions for individual support.

  • Track students’ grades, attendance, and behavior consistently to monitor progress and success of interventions.

  • Provide direct support and implementation of the plans for social emotional needs.

  • Ability to work with students one-on-one, in small groups, and in whole group lessons.

  • Provide child, classroom, and family-centered consultation regarding the social emotional learning and development of children and adolescents.

  • Collaborate with district and community supports and agencies/resources to support wrap around services.

  • Provide learning opportunities for students, staff, and parents to help understand and support the social emotional well-being of children, including strategies specific to student mental health and behavior.

  • Professional communication and organization skills.

  • Collaborate and coordinate with district ancillary staff for student supports and services.

  • Represent the school and district in a positive and professional manner.

  • Other duties as assigned.



Additional Experience Preferred


  • Knowledge of social emotional needs of school age children and adolescents.

  • Experience with school risk assessments for mental health.

  • Experience with student/classroom observation and data collection and analysis.



Work Environment

Work is performed in elementary buildings. There is limited exposure to physical risk.

Building Principal



Terms of Employment

School year position. Hired through GECS.



Compensation

Commensurate with experience ranging from $45,000-$55,000.
