Position: Elementary Strings Teacher

Overview

The TESD is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Elementary Strings Teacher to join our outstanding music education team. This educator will inspire a love of music in young learners by providing high-quality instruction in violin, viola, cello, and bass. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in string pedagogy, a passion for fostering musical growth in elementary students, and the ability to collaborate with colleagues to support a comprehensive K–12 music curriculum.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide engaging and developmentally appropriate instruction in orchestral strings to students in grades 3–4.
• Develop and implement sequential lessons aligned with the National Core Arts Standards and district music curriculum
• Prepare students for school concerts, community performances, and district-wide festivals
• Collaborate with music and general education staff to support cross-disciplinary initiatives and performances
• Assess student progress using formative and summative measures and provide regular feedback to students and parents
• Foster a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment that supports all learners
• Maintain and care for school-owned instruments, materials, and music libraries
• Participate in department meetings, professional development opportunities, and district arts events
• Serve as an advocate for the music program within the school and broader community
  
  

Candidate Requirements

• Valid Pennsylvania Instructional I or II Certification in Music PK–12
• Bachelor’s degree in Music Education required; Master’s degree preferred
• Proficiency on string instruments (violin, viola, cello, bass)
• Strong pedagogical skills in beginning and intermediate string instruction
• Excellent classroom management and communication skills
• Commitment to equitable and inclusive teaching practices
• Ability to collaborate effectively with students, staff, and families
• Willingness to support students outside the classroom, including performances and rehearsals
