REPORTS TO: Principal(s)/Superintendent

PURPOSE OF JOB: This position is responsible for designing and implementing a dynamic STEM curriculum for students in Grades K-5. The teacher will collaborate with classroom educators to integrate interdisciplinary STEM activities, fostering hands-on, inquiry-based learning. This role involves providing engaging instruction, promoting problem-solving, critical thinking, and innovation through science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Meets and instructs classes in the locations and at the time designated.
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
  • Implement, design, and refine a leading STEM program curriculum for Grades K-5.
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques, instructional media, and performance assessments, which guide the learning process toward curriculum goals and student learning.
  • Uses technology to promote learning, creativity, and collaboration.
  • Organizes, develops, and coordinates special STEM events/activities for Mark DeLay School and Lace School.
  • Implements new programs and resources that support the vision of the D61.
  • Researches outside partnerships/grants/funding opportunities to help support the integrity and growth of the program.
  • Collaboratively works with the 6-8 STEM teacher to ensure a scope and sequence that best supports K-8 learners.
  • Maintains and manages an inventory of materials to support the collection and organization of supplies necessary for teaching in a STEM setting.
  • Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct, and for the classroom develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
  • Strives to maintain and improve professional competence to keep abreast of developments, research, curriculum, best practices, and new technology in the field.
  • Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the building principal or other appropriate administrator.

Contractual salary as established by the Board of Education
