Responsibilities

• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to student maturity and interests.
• Prepare for classes and show evidence of preparation upon request.
• Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
• Guide learning toward curriculum goals with clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
• Employ varied instructional techniques and media to meet student needs.
• Assess student progress and provide regular progress reports.
• Diagnose learning disabilities and involve district specialists as required.
• Protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities; maintain safety.
• Maintain accurate records as required by policy and regulation.
• Assist administration in implementing policies governing student life and conduct.
• Establish reasonable classroom rules and maintain order fairly.
• Be available to students and parents for educational purposes outside instructional hours.
• Plan and supervise assignments for teacher aide(s) and volunteers; evaluate performance.
• Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
