Job summary

The Joliet Public Schools District 86 is seeking a Special Education Teacher to support students toward intellectual, emotional, physical, and psychological growth. This 9-month, bargaining unit position is non-exempt and reports to the Principal and Assistant Principal.

Qualifications include a Professional Educator License with Self Contained General Education and LBS1 Endorsement, knowledge of Teach philosophy, and strong behavior management skills.

Qualifications

• Professional Educator License with Self Contained General Education and LBS1 Endorsement or Required Endorsement.
• Knowledge of "Teach" Philosophy.
• Knowledge of Behavior Management and Data Collection for Autism students.
• Must Be NCLB Highly Qualified.
• Demonstrated capabilities in leadership, public and community relations, academic competence.
• Must possess effective behavior management skills.
• Must be able to structure a classroom to maximize student learning.
• Must be able to establish effective communication skills with a variety of stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Instructional Planning: prepare plans and long-term planning according to the District Framework.
• Instructional Planning: develop lesson goals, units, and course objectives.
• Instructional Planning: set high standards for learning and communicate expectations.
• Instructional Planning: plan for efficient use of time on task.
• Instructional Planning: organize materials and assignments for student use.
• Instructional Planning: plan for systematic evaluation of lessons and units.
