Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in special education or related field.
  • A valid TB test certifying freedom from contagious TB.
  • Virginia license/endorsement in Special Education K-12.
  • Ability to collaborate with students, parents and staff.
  • Clear communication with families and colleagues.
  • Commitment to inclusive educational practices.
  • Ability to adapt practices to student needs.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Fosters positive interactions in school communities.
  • Ability to work with educators across programs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and monitor IEPs.
  • Adapt lessons to meet IEP goals in least restrictive settings.
  • Support FBA and BIP processes with data collection.
  • Ensure compliance with state/district assessments and accommodations.
  • Provide instructional/behavioral strategies for students in LRE.
  • Assess social and academic needs to support students.
  • Collaborate with school personnel, families and agencies to modify programming.
  • Manage student behavior with evidence-based approaches.
  • Support paraprofessionals in program classrooms.
  • Confer with IEP team to implement plans.
  • Utilize data-driven decision making and data interpretation.
  • Create an organized classroom with visual supports.
