Job summary

The Lyon County School District is hiring a Special Education Teacher - Self-Contained, Mild/Moderate Disabilities for East Valley Elementary. The position supports learners with disabilities through a functional curriculum and evidence-based practices, reporting to site administrators.

Employment is 9 months (185/189 days) or as specified, with non-exempt status and district salary schedule. Applicants must hold or be able to obtain Nevada teaching licensure and meet minimum state requirements.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university; Master's Degree preferred.
Experience working in a special education setting preferred.
Nevada teaching license issued by the Nevada Department of Education or able to acquire it.

Responsibilities

Establish goal-oriented teaching strategies for students with disabilities.
Instruct students in functional curriculum domains (domestic, vocational, recreational, community, functional academics).
Maintain student records and reports in compliance with state and district regulations.
Adhere to LCSD Professional Standards and report to the school administrator.
Deliver instruction using research-based methods and appropriate materials.
Monitor student progress and adjust plans in annual IEP meetings or more frequently.
