Job summary

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a field preparing for a career in teaching or its equivalent.
Illinois teaching license with a special education endorsement.

Responsibilities

Teach Special Education at the Elementary School level (K-8).
Develop instructional plans, including unit and lesson plans that meet content standards and student learning outcomes.
Assess student progress, notify students and parents of progress, and determine grades in accordance with CPS standards.
Maintain accurate attendance records, grade reports and student records.
Use the CPS electronic parent portal Aspen or other systems for housing student grades and notifying families of assignments and assessments.
Collaborate with the behavioral health team and clinicians and other teachers regarding students with disabilities, including participation in IEP meetings.
