Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• Special Education Certificate required.
• No prior experience needed but alternatives may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Teach children with learning impairments to function in the regular classroom with modifications.
• Plan programs of study that meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
• Attend Admission Review and Dismissal (ARD) meetings.
• Develop and update the individual education plan for students.
• Collaborate with the classroom teacher(s) to formulate teaching strategies.
• Maintain confidentiality concerning students.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills

Understanding of various disabilities and special education law.

Skills to assist in remediation of various disabilities.

Excellent communication (verbal and written), public relations, and interpersonal skills.

Knowledge of the policies and procedures of the MISD.

Knowledge of the change process, organizational development, conflict resolution, and facilitation skills.
